James B. Curry

CURRY, JAMES B., 65, of Lake Mary passed away October 16, 2004 at his home in the loving care of his family and Vitas Hospice. He was born February 13, 1939 to Marlin and Coralie Curry in Clay, KY. He graduated from Evansville College with a degree in Electrical Engineering. While there, he was President of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity, Station Manager of WEVC, the college radio station. Upon graduation, Jim was employed by NASA at the Red Stone Arsenal in Huntsville, AL. He later worked for Pan American and Electro Mechanical Research Corp. at Cape Canaveral, FL. Accepting a job with Digital Equipment Corp., he moved to Knoxville, TN to become the Southeastern District Manager. Jim returned to the family farm in Clay, KY in 1975. While farming, Jim continued to write and develop software code. In 1985, he started his own computer consulting company in Evansville, IN and was later President of Blaker, Curry and Associates, which was bought by George S. Olive Accounting Firm in Indianapolis and Evansville, IN. After several years of managing the Evansville Computer Group of GSO, Jim moved to Longwood, FL in 1995, where he started Barnett, Curry Consulting. He retired as President of Microlab in 2001 due to health reasons. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Judy; his son, John and daughter-in-law, Stacy; four grandchildren, Savanna, Laine, Gillian and Griffin, all of Lake Mary, FL. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, October 20, 2004 at 4:30PM at the Baldwin Fairchild Oaklawn Chapel at County Road 46-A and Rinehart Road. There will be visitation from 3:30PM-4:30PM prior to the service. Donations may be made to Vitas, Hospice Care of to The American Cancer Society.
