John E. Bessler

BESSLER, JOHN E., John Edwin “JB” Bessler, 82, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, March 7, 2007. Survived by his beautiful wife of 45 years, Betty; son, John (Jessica) of Orlando, Florida; daughter, Jodi (Dave) Tucker of Broomfield, Colorado; three grandchildren, Andrew Hart, Kristie Hart and Hallie Bessler. John served in the Navy during WWII as a Ship's Cook First Class, mostly on the amphibious ship ARL-4 ADONIS. He was most proud of the 3 weeks he spent on the beach in Normandy serving and caring for his fellow servicemen following the D-Day invasion. John and Betty owned and operated Bessler's of Brookfield, a restaurant and bar in Wisconsin, for 11 years before moving to Florida. Some of John's highlights were playing professional hockey for the Chicago Blackhawks and refereeing hockey for the Pekin Stars and the Milwaukee Admirals. He was a long time member and past administrator of the Moose Lodge in Bithlo as well as past president of the Wedgefield Homeowners Association. He will be missed by all. Memorial service will be held March 16, 4PM, at the County Line Moose Lodge.
