ADAMS, KARL GOERDEL, 71, of Mount Dora, Florida died peacefully surrounded by his wife and three daughters, Thursday, January 10, 2008. He was born August 19, 1936 in New York, New York. He was happily married to Brenda DeVries for 47 years. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. He was a graduate of Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, NJ. Karl had a successful career as a chemical engineer working in the Plastics industry. He worked in New Jersey, South Carolina and Illinois. He had four patents, which related to raincoat material, plastic strapping, and recycling of the plastic strapping. Karl spent most of his career working 27 years with Signode Corporation now Illinois Tool Works in Glenview, Illinois. Wanting a warmer climate after living in Chicago, Karl retired in 1999 moved to Mount Dora, Florida with his wife. In addition to his work, Karl had many interests and hobbies. He traveled extensively with his wife throughout the country and abroad. Karl was an avid photographer who won awards in Chicago for his beautiful pictures of places he and his wife visited. Karl had a passion for trains, building an extensive layout in his home and taking several train trips with his wife. Other interests Karl enjoyed were gardening, bowling, listening to music, putting together puzzles, and playing games with friends. Karl had a quiet sense of humor and enjoyed laughing with family and friends. Karl was also active with his church serving on various church councils, the Evangelism Committee and Men's Group. In addition, Karl had a big heart - providing volunteer service to others including recently delivering Meals on Wheels. His family and friends describe him as gentle, caring and loving. His kindness was evident to all. Survived by his wife, Brenda D. Adams, and three daughters in which he was very proud, Sharon R. Eslick (Eron) from Sorrento, FL.,
Cynthia E. Anderson (Tom) from Geneva, Il, Kathryn G. Adams (Dan Frank ) from Villa Park, IL. Karl had four grandchildren whom he adored,
Kelsey Anderson, Kaitlyn
Anderson, Samuel Eslick and Emma Frank. In addition, Karl had cousins all over the world, Martha Dunning from Tavares, FL, Gretchen Nelms from Pinehurst, NC, Shirley Field and Julie Field from Victoria, Australia and Anne Barron from Toronto, Canada. Donations should be sent to Saint Philip Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 1050 Boyd Drive, Mount Dora, FL.
