Randolph Sanford Obituary

Randolph Ashe Sanford, 51, died Jan. 9, 2008, after a brief illness.

Randy was preceded in death by his father, William E. Sanford Jr.; sister, Carol Sanford Fentriss; and niece, Elizabeth Pitts.

He is survived by Wilma Artis, "the love of his life" for 19 years; mother, Diana Sanford; sister, Claire Pitts (Newt); brother, Ian Sanford (Nancy); his nieces, Beth Fentriss, Jennifer Cooksey, Barbara Pitts, Saidi Pitts, Julia Sanford; and a nephew, Tabb Sanford.

Randy was a graduate of Sheffield High School and the University of North Alabama.

Randy developed an entrepreneurial spirit which included his establishment of Drafting Unlimited, a full service drafting company in Huntsville. In 2002, he and Wilma created "Willford's Ol' English Cheese Crisps" which operated out of the Shoals Culinary Center in Florence. From a small start-up, with their perseverance, dedication and hard work, they developed it into a very successful business with customers throughout the Southeast.

Randy and Wilma shared their enthusiasm in many facets of life including camping, sailing and traveling. Randy had a great love of history and was very knowledgeable of world history. He volunteered as a troop leader in the Boy Scouts for several years. He was devoted to Wilma and his family and friends. He was a caring, compassionate man with a wonderful sense of humor.

Visitation will be at Morrison Funeral Home on Saturday, Jan. 12, 2008, from 1-3 p.m. A private family service will follow at Sheffield Oakwood Cemetery.
