Mary Conley Obituary
CONLEY, MARY SUSANNA, of Ocala, FL, was 100 years old when she passed away on Monday, October 1, 2012. She was born June 28, 1912, in Doddridge County, WV to Felix and Rhoda Coffman, the last of five children. She became a nurse in Weston, WV, where she met her future husband, Laurence (Larry) Conley. They eloped in January, 1935, and were married in Maryland. They moved to Baltimore, MD during the war, where Laurence worked as a tool maker for Glenn L. Martin Company and Mary was a Girl Scout Leader, church librarian and mother. It was during this time that Mary painted the family Oldsmobile with a brush and house paint. The family moved back to Weston for a short time and then returned to Maryland, where they lived until the Martin Company sent them to Orlando in 1959. Mary was an excellent baker and seamstress and during the sixties even crafted a leisure suit for her son-in-law, while working full-time in a clerical role for Martin Marietta. Thanks to the wonderful atmosphere and care she received while at Orlando Jewish Federation's Kinneret Apartments and Lifecare of Ocala she achieved her Century milestone. She is survived by her daughter Sue Shuler of Oxford, PA; and her son and daughter-in-law, Fred and Ann Conley of Ocala, FL. Mary is further survived by her grandchildren Paige Moses of Herndon, VA, Jeff Conley of Orlando, FL and Ken Conley of New York, NY; in addition to her great-grandchildren Gareth Lange and Carson Moses of Herndon, VA. She was pre-deceased by her loving husband, Laurence in January, 1994; and her son-in-law Henry Shuler in January, 2012. Mary did not gossip in her 100 years and was always doing more for others than for herself. There will be a memorial service celebrating Mary's life at the Union Presbyterian Church in Kirkwood, PA on November 18, 2012 at 1 PM all are welcome to attend, Memorial Donations may be made to Temple Beth Shalom, PO Box 6117, Ocala FL 34478 or Union Presbyterian Church, 5637 Street Road, Kirkwood, PA, 17536.
