ROBERT TOMCAVAGE Obituary

TOMCAVAGE, ROBERT
FRANCIS, beloved husband, dad, granddad, son, brother, uncle, and friend to many passed away on Sunday, Jan. 24, 2010, at home surrounded by his loving family. Bob was born on March 9, 1930, to
William and Helen Tomcavage in Shenandoah, PA, and he was the last remaining sibling as his brothers, Billy, Norman, Christopher and sister, Mary Ellen have gone before him. Bob served his country during the Korean War and then ensued a career in the Accounting field. Bob was filled with the Spirit; a member of St. Margaret Mary Church for 43 years; he had been active in the Faith Sharing Ministry, Ministry to the Sick and a Eucharistic Minister. Bob loved visiting and cherished his encounters with everyone. While the Alzheimer's disease took many things from Bob, his short, humorous quips remained to the end. Bob is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 53 years, Frances; his loving daughters and their husbands; and three cherished grandchildren: Karen, John, John
Robert and Kent Thorsen of Orlando, FL, and Kathy, David, and Angela Boyd of Palm Beach Gardens, FL; as well as loving sisters and brothers in-law, numerous wonderful nieces and nephews and many special friends. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend Bob's funeral services on Saturday, Jan. 30, at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, 526 N. Park Ave., Winter Park. His viewing will be from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. followed by the Funeral Mass at 11:30 a.m. Immediately after Mass, everyone is invited to a luncheon reception at the Family Life Center adjacent to the Church. Internment will be at Glen Haven Memorial Cemetery, Winter Park for those who wish to attend. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Margaret Mary Ministry to the Sick, 526 N. Park Ave., Winter Park, FL, 32789, or First United Methodist Church of Winter Park for the benefit of the Alzheimer's Brain Fitness Program, 125 N. Interlachen Ave., Winter Park, FL, 32789. Arrangements by Baldwin Fairchild Ivanhoe Chapel.

I am very sorry to hear the passing of Bob. I worked in the garage across the street from Raymond James. Bob told me of the love he had for his wife and his children. Will keep you all in my prayers. I know he is watching over you and is at peace.

The skies opened up in Heaven on Sunday and welcomed one of the kindest person I have known. May his spirit live in all who have been fortunate enough to have known Bob. He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.

I remember his clown collection, his drum set, and his incredible head of hair. Mostly, though, I will always remember my Godfather as a sweet, kind soul...a truly gentle man.

To the family,

My deepest sympathies on the passing of "Mr. Bob". He was the kindest, sweetest man I ever met! His stories were lengthy but they were always filled with much laughter! He would have a smile on his face every day and a sparkle in his eye! He took his job here at Raymond James very seriously and was the best at making sure the shelves were full and the mail was delivered....Although I did not know Mr. Bob as long as many of the others here at RJ, I was honored to know him for the years that I did! He was a blessing to many and will be missed...
