Mr. Dixon opened my mind when he asked our philosophy class to prove we are here. He inspired me that day to be open minded, less judgmental and to think outside of the box and I've never wanted to go back in.

I remember he encouraged us to argue our reasoning if we missed a test question. I've always kept that idea as I teach.

The world has truly lost an amazing individual. I know that he was one of the best teachers a lot of us ever had. His introduction to the art and beauty of the world has had a lasting impact on me. The reason I teach now is because of him. He will be missed and his influence will live on through the many lives that he touched.

I fondly remember Humanities with Mr. Dixon at Boone HS. I was in the class of "84, and my life was enriched with knowledge of artistic styles - paintings, sculptures and architecture - but most importantly his caring and enthusiastic nature. I try to pass that on to the students I teach.

Roger Dixon was an exceptional educator. I witnessed first-hand his material preparation and care for his classes and knew of many students who came back from college who said their Humanities courses were easy because they had already learned it in his class at Boone High School.
Roger was an exceptional friend. He was my best friend for over 27 years and I can say he never spoke a harsh word to me nor failed to listen to my problems with a kind ear. I valued his keen intellect. I shall miss him more than words can say.
Elaine, Cathi and I express our deep sorrow for your loss. We all had great times together and we have many memories to share. Our love and thoughts are with you.

He was a wonderful teacher and I was blessed to have him for Humanities! He helped me develop my interest in art and paintings and took us on the best field trip to the Medieval fair in Sarasota and to see the Ringling Museum...happy memories!

Roger embodied the finest qualities of an educator: dedicated, subject savvy, and constantly striving to involve students in his chosen field of humanities. Working with him for so many years in Orange County was a privilege. Elaine, my condolences to you and all those who knew Roger. He will be long remembered.
