Dr. Ray was one of the most influential teacher in my lifetime. As a Psychology major, my passion for the learning aspect of Psychology grew after taking his class as a Junior. His innovative way of teaching put me on my path of my career that I still love to this day!

Dr. Ray was one of my most challenging professors. He taught an undergraduate class like a graduate one, and he told us that. I mention him nearly every year at some point to my students. Whether it is in the shorthand ways he used mathematical symbols to take notes, that I adopted as my own, or to share stories of his psychological wisdom that I was so lucky to gain from class. I am proud to continue his legacy, and thankful for his mark on my life.

I first saw Roger in a water ski tournament at Cypress Gardens.
I met him at Rollins where we both were freshmen. I was on the same water ski team: he was the star.
My first day at the ski dock at Rollins, I arrived with my trick skis, thinking I was good. I believe I even mentioned it to the ski coach, Henry Suydam "Gramps."

He said, "Ride in the boat, I´m going to take Roger for a run."
As Roger completed perfect slalom passes after perfect passes, I started to slip down in my seat.
"Gramps" picked up the slalom ski and gave Roger a single trick ski, with which he did tricks I could only dream about, including Rogers "signature" Toe Hold Side Slide. But then Roger turned around backwards on that single trick ski and completed a perfect pass through the slalom course, "backwards." I was under the seat.

Roger wasn´t "showing off," he was merely helping "Gramps "educate a prospective team member.
Roger was team captain, and we were able to meet other national ranked skiers because of him.
He helped us all. I wanted to learn his Toe Hold Side Slide. So while we skied around Lake Virginia on single trick skis, Roger performed this trick for continuous minutes, explaining how to do it for me.
These were our college years.
We all were better because of Roger.
Over the years I talked with him a few times. Even during college years I was aware of his love for Roz. I knew he had a distinguished career, and I am certain that thousands of students gained due to his vision.
