Walter Shearin Obituary

Shearin, Walter Walter Shearin, 85 of DeLand passed away December 6, 2016 at Halifax Hospice of Volusia/Flagler Care Center in Orange City. He was born in Roanoke Rapids, NC on January 22, 1931. Walter was a United States Air Force veteran, serving during the Korean War. He received his Bachelors of Arts from North Carolina State, majoring in wood utilization and minoring in economics. He retired in 1996 as purchasing manager for the City of Sanford. Walter was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and enjoyed gardening and sports, especially golf. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, June; sons Lee Shearin of Cape Canaveral, FL and Daryl Shearin (Barbara) of Cleveland, TN; daughter Allison S. Weil (Robert) of Voorhees, NJ; sisters Helen Beal, Betty Brown and Phyllis Endicott (Dick), all of California; grandsons Bobby Weil, Matt Weil and Zac Weil; step-granddaughter Michele Barkhaver and great-granddaughter Sophie.
