William C. Morgan

MORGAN, WILLIAM C., 82, of DeLand, retired professional golfer, died September 23, 2007 at the Florida Hospital, DeLand. Born in Leaksville, NC on November 1, 1924, he moved to DeLand in 1969 from Titusville. He was a pro golfer at Southridge Golf Course in DeLand since 1968. He loved golf and was a first class teacher of golf. He was a life member of the PGA since 1951. He was active with junior golfers, won many tournaments throughout Central FL, still holding many course records, and won Sports Person of the Year in Volusia County. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Celia of DeLand; son, Steven Morgan of Colfax, NC; stepson, Samuel Sudduth of Princeton, WV; brothers, Charles Morgan of Orlando, John Morgan of Millington, TN Frank Morgan of DeLand, Bob Morgan of Burlington, NC. Memorial Service will be held Friday, Sept. 28th, 11:30AM, at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, with Fr. Don Lyon officiating. Visitation Wednesday, Sept. 26th, from 6-8PM, at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the St. Barnabas Episcopal School Golf Program, 322 W. Michigan Avenue, DeLand, FL 32720.
