JOSEPH E. ARBAUGH Joseph E. Arbaugh, 72, of Fairview, Mich., passed away at the University of Michigan Medical Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan on Sunday, April 2, 2023. Joe was born in Mio, Michigan on December 4, 1950 to Roy and Audrey (McIntyre) Arbaugh. He graduated from Mio High School with the Class of 1968. Joseph received an Associate of the Arts degree from Kirtland Community College in 1975, then graduated from Central Michigan University with a degree in Science and Technology in 1977. Joe was a certified instructor for property valuation and assessment administration and taught at Kirtland Community College from 1978 -1980. He served as Oscoda County Equalization Director from 1977 1982. He was a Level 3 State of Michigan Assessor: serving as Chief Assessor for Hamburg Township from 1982 -1987. He was also a licensed Real Estate associate, appraiser, and broker for almost 40 years, owning Century 21 Realty in Mio, Fairview, and Lewiston for the past 20 years. He also was a landlord and property manager. Joe married Rebecca "Becky" L. (Kauffman) Arbaugh in October of 1992 at the Mio Church of God, where he was a member and very involved as a Sunday School teacher. He was also President of the local chapter of Gideons International. Joe was devoted to his children and grandchildren, watching them play sports, sing, and play music. He was a dedicated and devoted Detroit Tigers fan, taking his children and grandchildren to Tigers games, which brought great enjoyment to all. One of the fondest memories he cherished was working in downtown Detroit when the Tigers won the World Series in 1968. Joe also enjoyed gardening, playing Euchre and board games with his family (he was a very good Trivial Pursuit player!), bee keeping, reading historical and true-story books, and watching Jeopardy! Joe is survived by his wife Rebecca L. "Becky" Arbaugh; his children: Thomas (Rebecca) Arbaugh and Catherine (Charles) Arbaugh-Henke and their mother Bonnylin Proffitt; his step-children: Renee (Adam) Quintela, Kristel Lunning, and Erik (Rachel) Lunning: his sister Ruth (Dennis) Miteen; his brother Daniel Arbaugh; 12 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren. Joseph was preceded in death by his parents: Roy and Audrey Arbaugh, and his brother David Arbaugh. Visitation 4 - 8 PM Friday, April 7, 2023, at The Lashley Funeral Home, Mio, with a family remembrance tribute at 7 PM. Visitation was also on Saturday, April 8, at The Tri Point Church of God, Mio, from 12 Noon until the time of Funeral Service at 1:00 PM with Pastor Kevin Salsbury of The Comins Community Church officiating, Interment will follow at The Fairview Cemetery, Fairview, MI. Luncheon at The Comins Township Hall in Fairview. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice. Arrangements by Lashley Funeral Home, Mio, MI.
