Karen Gayle Joan, nee Hebbeler, age 67, of Hale, formerly of Evansville, Ind., passed away on Saturday morning, April 10, 2021 from COVID-19.
Karen was born Dec. 15, 1953 to the late Elmer and Avanelle (nee Postlethweight) Hebbeler the youngest of four siblings. She was a feisty fun woman who enjoyed reading, binge watching Dark Shadows, listening to rock and roll music especially Queen, and rooting for Indiana Hoosiers football and basketball. Karen was also an avid history buff, especially on anything Titanic related. Karen's one goal in life was to retire from Walmart as a cashier and just enjoy life, which unfortunately she was unable to attain.
Karen is survived by her loving spouse of almost 37 years, Estel "Gene" Eugene Joan; daughter, Jennifer Joan; brother, Steve Hebbeler; sister, Kathy Hebbeler; friends, co-workers, and her dog Rascal. In addition to her parents, Karen was preceded in death by sibling, Susie Hebbeler.
Family and friends will gather for a time of visitation on Thursday, April 15, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Buresh Funeral Home, 121 South Washington St., Hale. Due to the pandemic, Karen will be cremated afterwards. Another service will be held later this summer in her hometown of Evansville, per Karen's wishes. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.bureshfuneralhomes.com. Visitation will be held with precautions including facial covering and social distancing, due to the current pandemic, limiting the number of attendees at a given time.
