Dan Glenn King, passed away peacefully on October 21, 2025, at the age of 73. Born in 1952 in
Oshkosh, Wisconsin, Dan later made his home in Lake Forest, Illinois, where he built a life grounded in love, curiosity, and family.
Dan graduated from Oshkosh West High School in 1970 and attended the University of Wisconsin–Stout, majoring in Hotel and Restaurant Management. He had a profound passion for Native American culture, reflected in his many visits as a guide and director to the Navajo Nation. Dan produced Song Keepers: A History of the Flute Music in Native American Culture and Its Meaning, showcasing his deep respect and admiration for this community.
He was an avid reader of many genres and always sought to learn more about the world and the people in it. He could never travel to a new place without visiting a museum and reading every placard a reflection of his boundless curiosity and appreciation for knowledge.
As a successful business owner, Dan first made his mark in the electronic components industry before transitioning into real estate. His entrepreneurial spirit and dedication to his work were evident in every venture he undertook.
He shared a beautiful life with his devoted wife, Sandi King, whose love, and partnership formed the foundation of their family. Together, they created a home filled with laughter, adventure, and deep affection a reflection of their shared values and enduring bond.
A huge Wisconsin Badgers football fan and season ticket holder for many years, Dan loved cheering on his team with family and friends. A lifelong admirer of the natural world, he also found joy in simple pleasures: pressing wildflowers, cooking for loved ones, and spending time outdoors. He delighted in watching his children grow and thrive, taking immense pride in their accomplishments and happiness.
Dan is lovingly remembered by his wife, Sandi King; his children, Andy King, Jamie King (Hali), MG King, and Madison King; and his siblings, Jack King (Jeanette), Kay Ferguson (Michael), and Chuck King (Lori). He was a cherished uncle to several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Dan was the beloved son of the late Glenn King and Jalane Draeger.
Those who knew Dan will remember his gentle spirit, endless curiosity, and unwavering pride in the people he loved most. His kindness, warmth, and quiet strength touched many lives and will be deeply missed, yet his memory will remain forever in the hearts of those he loved.
