Larry Weigandt Obituary

Larry John Weigandt, 73, of Oshkosh passed away on Thursday March 27, 2025 following a battle with Primary Lateral Sclerosis. Larry was born in Oshkosh, WI on May 18, 1951. He was the son of the late Russell and Annabelle (Neustifter) Weigandt. He married his wife Jo Anne Troudt, on February 4, 1978.

Larry started his medical career as a Radiologic Technologist, where he taught students at The Mercy School of Radiologic Technology. He later became a vice president of The Wisconsin Society of Radiologic Technologies. He was a National Board Certified Surgical First Assistant for The General Vascular Surgeons at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Appleton, WI. He was an active member of First English Lutheran Church where he served communion and sang in the choir. Larry was an accomplished softball player and was elected into The Oshkosh Softball Hall of Fame. Throughout his life he was an avid fisherman, basketball player and enjoyed many rounds of golf. He enjoyed his retirement years in The Villages, FL where he met many dear friends. After Larry's diagnosis he became a member of The ALS/PLS Association.

Larry's proudest accomplishments were his two children; Russell (Diane Schneider) Weigandt of Oshkosh; Claire (Lars) Pentzek of Friedrichshafen, Germany; But most off, his loving grandchild, Alena Pentzek.

Larry is survived by his in-laws Nancy (Dan) Gabert of Oshkosh, Tom (Darlene) Troudt of Appleton, Carl Heiss of Oshkosh and Jeff (Ellie) Troudt of Racine. He was proceeded in death by his sister in-law Julane Heiss (Troudt). He is survived by many extended family members including life-long friends.

Visitation will be held from 3-5 pm on Saturday April 19, 2025 at The Elks Club 175 W. Fernau Ave. in Oshkosh, followed by a memorial service/celebration of Life at 5pm.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.

Larry was a good man, Claire and I were very good friends for a long time and he was always so welcoming of me into his home. Such a sad loss and my thoughts are with you Russ and Claire.

God bless Larry's family in these trying days. Larry & I were friends and teammates on OHS (Class '69) Indians Baseball teams, later Softball teams + playing against each other. He will be missed by many. RIP my friend.
