Andrew Pnacek Obituary
Andrew P. Pnacek Sr. of Hope Township went to be with the Lord on March 28, 2023, after a short illness. Andy was born in Larkin Township on October 19, 1929, to Roman and Josephine (Mestonik) Pnacek. He married the former Ethel Mae Laplow on October 24, 1953, in Midland. She preceded him in 2014.
Andy was a long-time farmer in Larkin Township. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict from 1951-1953. He retired from Dow Chemical in 1985 after 32 years of service. Andy never met a stranger and was a friend to many.
He is survived by eight children Christine (Art) Boothe of Flint, Andrew Pnacek Jr. of Beaverton, Linda (Randall) Bishop of Beaverton, Susan (James) Wentworth of Coleman, Doug (Julie) Pnacek of Coleman, Mary (Paul) Bell of Gladwin, Russell (Nancy) of Midland, and Jeffery Pnacek of Hope. He is also survived by 25 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife Ethel, his parents, one son Martin, and his siblings Emil, Steve, Leo, James, Dan, Suzie, and Rose.
Visitation Thursday, March 30, 2023, from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm with a 7:00 pm Vigil at the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Home, 1200 W. Wheeler St, Midland. Funeral Mass Friday, March 31, 2023, at 11:00 AM at the Assumption B.V.M. Catholic Church, 3516 E. Monroe Rd., Midland, MI 48642. Family will greet guests starting at 10:00 AM at the church. Interment will be held in New Calvary Cemetery.
We, the family, would like to thank Great Lakes Home Care for providing home care with a special thank you to Don Corrigan and a thank you to the Veterans Administration for their support.
Memorials to Assumption B.V.M. Catholic Church, MyMichigan Hospice, or to Aleda E. Lutz V.A. Medical Center would be appreciated.
