Ann (Allen) Cockrell, 90, of Mount Pleasant, died Easter Sunday, April 8, 2012. She was born June 30, 1921, the daughter of Anthony and Helen (Gresnarek) Botek, and lived in the Mount Pleasant area. She married Harold Allen in 1940. They had a grocery store south of Mount Pleasant for years. She later was employed at Vic's Supermarket for many years. Harold Allen preceded her in death March 1, 1984. She also was married to Ruben Cockrell, who preceded her in death.
Ann is survived by three children, Robert (Linda) Allen of Midland, Jean (David) Moeggenberg of Midland, and Larry (Marilyn) Allen of Mount Pleasant; 14 grandchildren, Lynette (Bob) Linton, Kara (John) Kaczmarek, Nathan Allen, Kathleen (Kevin) Hemberg, Alan (Jean) Harris, Jim (Tina) Harris, Ryan (Sherry) Harris, Jane (Jeff) Johnson, Rich (Carissa) Moeggenberg, Ray (Noelle) Moeggenberg, Jill Bernard, Randy (Kristine) Moeggenberg, Kim Loomis, and Julie (Noah) Maurer; and 25 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Ann was preceded in death by daughter and son-in-law, Pat and Phil Harris; brothers, Tony Botek and Frank Botek; sisters, Agnes Love, Mary Sill, and Evelyn Courey.
Funeral services will take place Thursday, April 12, 2012, at 11 a.m., from the Berry Funeral Home in Shepherd, with her nephew, Jerry Sill, officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Gardens in Mount Pleasant. Ann's family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may consider their favorite charity.

So sorry to hear about Ann's passing. I remember coming out to her house as a young child with my parents (Bob and Lola Strandburg) for get togethers. My parents were long-time friends of Harold and Ann. I am out of town, but wanted to express my sympathy.
