Ashley Adan Obituary

Ashley Sue Adan, 21, was born in Midland on March 4, 1985, and passed away peacefully Wednesday evening, May 24, 2006, at home.

Ashley was the daughter of Al and Nancy Adan. She attended school for 18 years with the Midland County Educational Service Agency (MCESA) and helped pave the way for inclusive education in the Midland Public Schools. She currently was a student at H. H. Dow High School and the MCESA Post-Secondary Program. Ashley was a Special Gift from God. Her sparkling big brown eyes and warm smile touched many lives. She never went anywhere without her favorite stuffed animal, Gabby Gorilla, a monkey she could converse with any time, any place and he could always make her happy. It is hard to imagine that someone who never spoke a single word, spoke in so many other ways and taught us that everyone counts.

Ashley is survived by her parents; her brother, Andrew; her grandmother, Maxine Shepard; her abuelo, Adelberto Adan; her aunts and uncles John and Silvia Carter, Bob Shepard and Bonnie Fena, Tom and Barb Shepard, and Alvaro Adan; and cousins Megan and Jay Carter; Ryan, Christa, Stephanie and Michelle Shepard. Ashley was predeceased by her grandfather, Lowell Shepard; and abuela, Bertha Adan.

Ashley had many caring friends including two special caregivers, Peggy Smith and Ronna Lamblin and teachers Jeannine Dirette, Paula Dick and Robin Hammond.

Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 27, 2006, at the First Baptist Church, 915 E. Sugnet Road at Washington Street, with the Rev. John Dick officiating. Interment will be in Midland Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Home, 1200 W. Wheeler St., today from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and at the church on Saturday from 10 am until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to The Ashley Sue Adan Memorial Endowed Scholarship Fund for Special Education at the Midland Area Community Foundation or donor's favorite charity.
