Cleve Pomranky Obituary

Cleve Pomranky Jr.
Cleve Pomranky Jr., 94, beloved husband, father, and outdoorsman, passed away peacefully on June 29th, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Midland, Michigan, on July 19, 1930, to Cleve and Jessie Pomranky (Martin).
After graduating from Midland High School, he was drafted into the army and sworn in on his 21st birthday. He served his country with honor in the Korean War from 1951-1953. He was on mail flights, fixed heaters in the barracks, and is a combat veteran. After returning home, he married Norma Elaine Belonga and built a beautiful family, raising five children.
Cleve dedicated 33 years of his career to the Dow Chemical Company, working in the power department, where he was known for his strong work ethic and dedication.
Outside of work, he found his greatest joy in the outdoors. Whether hunting, fishing, or simply spending time in nature with family and friends, he embraced every moment with appreciation, curiosity, and skill.
He was a devoted husband to Mary Pomranky (Stillwell Smith) for 41 years and a loving father to five children and six step-children. Cleve is survived by his wife, Mary; sister, Ruth (Al); children, Cleve L. Pomranky (Deborah), Verna Boe (Rick), Jessie Roberts, and Dean Pomranky (Pam); step-children, Judy Holly (Troy) and Richard Smith (Amy), and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will carry on his legacy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cleve and Jessie; siblings Celia, Frieda, Patricia, and Ted; his daughter, Cele; and his grandchildren, April and Joseph.
His memory will live on in the stories shared around campfires, the lessons passed down through generations, and the love he instilled in his family. Cleve lived a long and full life, marked by devotion to his family, remarkable empathy, hard work, and a love for the great outdoors. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered.
A Memorial Service will be held at The American Legion, 5111 Hedgewood Dr. in Midland on July 9, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. Instead of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Heart Association and the Wounded Warriors Project.
