Clyde Kasper Jr.

Mr. Clyde Kasper Jr., 86, of Midland, formerly of Bay City, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2012, at his home with his family at his side. He was born July 31, 1926, in Bay City. Clyde formerly attended the Evangelical Free Church, served with the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He retired from The Dow Chemical Co. after 53 years of service and enjoyed hunting and spending time outdoors.

On June 24, 1950 he married his wife of 62 years, the former Donna M. Johnson and she survives his passing, along with four children and their spouses, Karen and Dave Cox of Midland, James and Nancy Kasper of Bay City, Susan and Mike Sweebe of Sanford and Joanne and Jim Leonard of Charlotte, N.C.; six grandchildren, Mike and Christa Kasper, Scott and Andrea Plachta, Jon and Sheryl Kasper, Patrick Plachta, Beth and Daryl Raasch and Jordan Leonard; four great-grandchildren, Jack, Madeline, Alexis and Matthew; and one brother and sister-in-law, Ronald and Bonnie Kasper of Bay City. He was preceded in death by one son, Scott Michael Kasper; his mother and father, Isabelle (Patterson) and Clyde Kasper Sr.; and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Hilma and Serenus Johnson.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Denise Ockert and American Hospice Care for the kind and compassionate care they provided for Mr. Kasper during the time they cared for him.

Funeral services will take place Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012, at 1 p.m. at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc., 201 W. Midland St. Bay City, Michigan 48706 (989) 686-2291. Officiating will be Pastor Greg Langley, with interment following in Floral Gardens Cemetery under the Auspices of the Bay County Veterans Council. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 2-8 p.m. and on Saturday from 12 p.m. and until the time of the service.
