Connie Grimm Obituary

Connie Marie Grimm, 61, of Midland, passed away Sunday, Aug. 17, 2014, at home with her husband at her side. Connie was born Aug. 29, 1952, in Saginaw, the daughter of Jack E. and Donna M. (Goodyear) Stolz Sr. She attended school in Saginaw and graduated from Carrollton High School. Connie earned a bachelor's degree in education from Central Michigan University in Mount Pleasant, and taught special education students in Caro for a few years before beginning her lifelong passion of caring for foster children.

Connie married Harold G. Grimm May 28, 1977, in Bridgeport, and together they opened their hearts and home to more than 200 foster children. Connie also had room in her heart for countless cats, dogs, turtles and any other animal in need of love and care.

Connie is survived by her husband, Harold, of Midland; her father, Jack E. Stolz Sr., of Petoskey; her brother, Jack "Jake" (Babette) Stolz Jr., of Petoskey; and numerous adopted and foster children.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Donna Stolz, March 16, 2014; also by her grandparents; and her mother- and father-in-law. Connie loved bonfires, days at the lake, laying in the sun, weekends at the farm in Bridgeport and reading, but especially cherished time spent with her children and her cats. The Grimm family suggests contributions in Connie's memory be directed to a humane society of choice.

Friends and family are invited to a memorial potluck picnic 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 24, at the home of Fred and Stacey, 1081 Carter Road, Midland. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Directors. www.waresmithwoolever.com
