Donna McKeage
Donna Louise McKeage, 86, died from a brain bleed resulting from a fall on September 14, 2025, at Memorial Herman hospital in Houston, Texas with family by her side. Donna was born on December 1, 1938, in Midland, Michigan to William (Bill) Killingbeck and Louise (Pete) Graham.
Her death was preceded by the death of her parents; her sister, RuthAnn Page; and her husband of 65 years, LeRoy McKeage. Donna is survived by her siblings, Jean Frost, Connie Killingbeck and William Killingbeck as well as Donna's three children, Vicki Leigh (Jimmy) Clem of Widefield, Colorado, David LeRoy (Mary-Beth) McKeage of Lake Jackson, Texas and Linda Sue Johnson of Lake Jackson, Texas. Donna had eight grandchildren, Melissa Calsadillo (Chris), Calhan, Colorado. Emily (Sean) Buckley, Denver, Colorado, Aaron (Jordane) Clem, Colorado Springs, Colorado, Sharla (Tim) Jerrow, Widefield, Colorado, Trenton (Samantha) Clem, MCCS Base, Oahu, Hawaii, Kaleigh Clem, Colorado Springs, Colorado, Danielle (Chris) Milling, Rosenberg, Texas, and Ashlyn (Corban) Dipnarinesingh, Lake Jackson, Texas. Donna was great-grandmother to twelve children.
Donna was born and raised in Midland, Michigan and continued to keep in touch with many grade school and childhood friends. After graduating from Midland High School in 1957 she attended Graceland College in Lamoni, Iowa. She married LeRoy McKeage on August 9, 1958, in Midland, Michigan. Their honeymoon was a trip to Waukegan, Illinois, for a job interview at Abbott Labs, where both were employed for two years. The newlyweds drove across the "new" Mackinaw Bridge on the return trip. They returned to Midland, Michigan in 1960 and lived there until moving to Baton Rouge, Louisiana in 1968 and then on to Lake Jackson, Texas in 1970, where they resided in the same home until their deaths. Donna and LeRoy had a home in Old Oak Trails Estates in Sanford, Michigan, and spent summers there from 2005 to 2021.
After moving to Lake Jackson, Donna volunteered at AP Beutel elementary school while her children attended school there. In 1976, Donna went to work for Chapelwood as the church secretary and worked there until retiring in 1999. Donna had a servant's heart and loved being involved through the Prayer Shawl Ministries, Vacation Bible School, The Gathering Place, and Stitch-n-Chat. If she wasn't there she might be reading with a child at AP Beutel, helping friends with errands, joining the Red Hat Ladies for lunch, or walking around her neighborhood and picking up trash. When she found the time to sit still, her hands would usually be busy knitting, crocheting, or working on a craft project.
Donna was a believer and an imagine bearer of Jesus Christ her Lord and Savior and there were reminders all around her home. Whether it is a Bible sitting on a stand in the bathroom, or books, pictures, nativities, and plaques scattered around her home. She enjoyed collecting nativity scenes and had over 60 that she would place around her home at Christmas time to remind everyone of the special gift we have all been given.
Special thanks to Scott Westfield EMT for being there 'any time, day or night' and Chapelwood and Rev. Paul Kethley for help in the process of closure. Cremation will take place arranged by Restwood Funeral Home.
A service in Donna's memory will be held Friday, October 17, 2025, at Chapelwood United Methodist Church, 300 Willow Drive, Lake Jackson with Rev. Paul Kethley presiding. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m.
