Ellen Shepard Obituary

Ellen Shepard
Ellen Baeckl Shepard passed away November 26 in South Carolina. She was born on the south side of Chicago to John and Beatrice Baeckl. She had three older siblings, Howard, Elsie, and Robert Baeckl. To her family, Ellen was known as "baby Ellie". She adored her brothers and sister.
After a childhood in Chicago, her family moved to Montrose, Michigan where Ellen attended school. She was a member of the Future Homemakers of America and was Valedictorian of her class at Montrose High School. It was in Montrose that she met her husband Daniel B. Shepard when they starred opposite each other in a theatre production. They married in 1959, moved to Midland Michigan and had four children, Laura, Libby, Linda, and John. Ellen will be forever remembered as a joyous, happy-go-lucky mom. She was always honest and kind.
Ellen was predeceased by her parents, her siblings, and her husband Dan. She leaves her children, five grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
Calling hours will be Thursday, December 2nd from 1-2:00 P.M. with funeral services held at 2 P.M. from The Ware Smith Woolever Funeral Home at 1200 West Wheeler Street. Ellen will be interred in Midland Cemetery alongside her husband. Memorials are asked to be contributed to the Midland Area Shrine Club or Shriners Children's Hospital. Funeral arrangements for Ellen have been entrusted to the care of The Ware Smith Woolever Funeral Directors.
