Jack E. Wolf passed away and left this world surrounded by love on September 12, 2025, in Syracuse, New York, of natural causes.
Born and raised in New Martinsville, West Virginia, Jack was strong, generous, and hardworking - both tough and gentle - and always quick with a witty comeback and sharp sense of humor.
Jack was a devoted husband, a proud and loving father, and a loyal friend. He attended Wittenberg University, where he continued his football career after Magnolia High School, later transferring to the University of Kentucky and graduating with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He served his country with pride, completing Officer Candidate School in the Navy and earning the rank of Lieutenant.
Jack began his career at Dow Chemical in Midland, Michigan, before moving to Syracuse, New York, where he co-founded PurEnergy, a successful company built with dedication and vision.
Outside of work, Jack's passions were endless. He coached travel soccer for many years, played the game himself, and found joy on the water - boating, racing, and owning vintage hydroplanes. He loved the outdoors and cherished his roots in West Virginia, often walking trails, sailing hobby sailboats, and sharing his love of nature with those around him. He had a soft spot for animals, especially dogs, and a special fondness for time spent with lifelong friends. Attending his high school reunions each year and keeping close ties with childhood friends brought him great happiness.
Jack leaves behind his beloved wife, Ann (Hutchinson) Wolf; his beloved dog and constant companion, Robbie; his children, Kristen (Kristy) Virgo and husband Derrick (Rick) Virgo, Dr. Michael S. Wolf and wife Emily Wolf, and Bill Wolf and wife Laura Wolf; and five grandsons who were the joy of his life: Derek Virgo, Charlie Wolf, Henry Wolf, Johnathan Wolf, and Ryan Wolf.
Jack was predeceased by his parents, C. Earl and M. Rosalind Wolf, and his brother, William E. Wolf.
More than anything, Jack will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family, his quiet strength, generosity and his ability to make everyone feel welcome. His legacy of love, laughter, and resilience will live on in the hearts of his wife, children, grandchildren, and all who knew him.
A celebration of Jack's life will be held by the family from 12 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, October 18, 2025 at the Craftsman Inn & Suites, 7300 E. Genesee Street, Fayetteville, NY 13066 (315–637–8000).
