James Sirrine Obituary

James Sirrine
James Brian Sirrine, 71 of Midland passed away Monday evening at MyMichigan Medical Center with family by his side. He was the son of Richard and Phyllis (Williams) Sirrine. Jim was born on April 30th, 1950, in Saginaw, MI.
Jim was a graduate of Bullock Creek High School in 1969. Jim loved being a member of the marching band at Bullock Creek, where he played the trombone. Mr. William Brown (band director) encouraged Jim's love of music. Jim earned the John Philip Sousa award in 1969. This award honors the top student in the high school band and recognizes superior musicianship and outstanding dedication (thanks, Mr. Brown).
Jim battled mental illness most of his life. His dreams were to be a member of the University of Michigan marching band and to also go to the medical school at U of M. He held on to those dreams to his last days. He was one of the University of Michigan's greatest fans. He always dressed in U of M clothing from head to toe. Jim was so happy when Michigan football team won the Big 10 Championship.
Jim was the most caring and kind man. He never had a negative word to say about anyone. He truly cared about everyone he met. He was always eager to know how you were and how all the members of your family were. He loved all people and once he met you, he would never forget your name.
Jim is survived by his mother, Phillis Sirrine, sister and brother-in-law, Robin and Dave Hammond, brother and sister-in-law, Mark and Kathy Sirrine. 7 nieces, 3 nephews and several great nieces and nephews.
Jim was lucky to have family and friends that cared to deeply for him, especially his sister Robin (who he affectionately called "Swamp Angel") who did so much for Jim in his final years.
The family would like to thank the staff at Stratford Pines where Jim lived for several years and was loved by so many there. The Emergency Room department and the nurses on 5100 floor at MyMichigan Medical Center for the wonderful care Jim received.
Jim's faith was very important to him. He loved going to Our Redeemer Church when he was able to.
A celebration of Jim's life is planned for April 30, 2022, Jim's birthday. Cremation services have been entrusted to the care of the Ware Smith Woolever Funeral Directors. More information to follow… and Go Blue!
