Leonard Speaker Obituary

Leonard C. Speaker
Leonard Charles Speaker, 66 of Midland, died Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at MidMichigan Medical Center in Gladwin. He was born November 14, 1954 in Midland, son of the late Lorin C. and Clara L. (Schneider) Speaker. Leonard was a graduate of Dow High School. He worked most his life a union mason. He was a life-long motorcycle enthusiast and a member of the Mandoza Brothers, the NRA, and the AMA (American Motorcycle Association). Leonard was also an avid flat track racer at the Polka Dot Motorcycle Club and the Midland Fairgrounds. He enjoyed Fishing, camping, but more than anything, loved spending time with his family.
Leonard is survived by his wife, Sherri (Altom) Speaker of Midland whom he married June 6, 2003; sons, Victor Mendes of Los Angeles, California, and Brandon (Tina) Hoover of Phoenix, Arizona (and their six children); daughters, Jillian Speaker of Midland and Alicia McElwain of Denver, Colorado; grandchildren, Sophia Speaker, Aiden and Aubrey Mendes, Michael Cruz, Candace (Kevin) Morr, Dannie Foulks, and DeVon (Brandi LaFontaine) Foulks; and many great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, John (Cheryl) Speaker of Midland and Mike (Jill Hoover) Speaker of Phoenix, Arizona; sister, Peggy (Johnny) Brantley of Rainsville. Alabama, his surviving sisters-in-law are Karen Gemette of Yucca Valley, CA, DeeAnn Ogans of Lancaster, CA, and brother-in-law Doug Altom of Yucca Valley, CA; as well as several nieces and nephews, and his life-long friend Dave Morrison of Midland, always making sure he was included in all of his shenanigans.
Leonard's family would like to thank the staff at DaVita Dialysis of Midland for their compassionate care.
Graveside services will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 25, 2021 in Larkin Township Cemetery. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the National Kidney Foundation, as they were a big contributor in Leo's health and the family wishes to show some thanks.
