Linda Whitmore-Decker Obituary

Linda Lou "Smith" Whitmore-Decker
Linda Lou "Smith", Whitmore-Decker, 73, St. Petersburg, Florida passed away unexpectedly on 3/30/22. Linda was born in Midland, Michigan to her late Mother, Katherine Smith and late Father Walter Smith, where she was raised with her late brother Kenneth Smith. Linda leaves behind her beloved daughters, Lisa Stephens (Rob Stephens), Laura Sanders (David Sanders) and treasured son, Richard Decker. She was an adoring grandmother to her 6 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Linda spent much of her youth in Michigan, prior to relocating to Florida to start her family and lay her roots. She worked for the Saint Petersburg Times, as a newspaper carrier, before retiring to volunteer her time and support to The Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States (VFW). Linda lived a beautiful life and had a zest for traveling and building her collection of everything "ELVIS". She loved to reflect on "the good old days" as a child and life back in Michigan and adored her cousins from the Battleshaw and Smith sides. Through the years Linda still longed for her one "true love" she left back home and recalled her childhood years alongside her best friend Patsy. To the very end, Linda opened her heart to everyone she met and turned perfect strangers into friends, with forever jokes and nicknames assigned. Her family was her support, her strength, and the light of her life. She will be forever remembered for her piercing blue eyes, long blonde hair, and her perfectly paired flashy jewels. She would often say "keep your eye on the sparrow" and that we shall do. Linda will be greatly and sincerely missed.
