Mildred Sprague Obituary
She was born in Bay City on Oct. 17, 1925, to the late Roland and Frances (Colby) Young. She lived her life for her Lord, her family and the spiritual welfare of others. Mildred was a poetess, an artist and faithful servant of her Lord for decades. She was a member of Midland Baptist Church. She was a registered nurse, having been employed as the school nurse in the Bay-Arenac Intermediate School District, as well as the Bay City Public Schools prior to retirement. She served as president of the Michigan School Nurses Association for two years and was a nurse consultant for the Department of Mental Health.
She will be sorely missed by her loving husband of 60 years, Alvin L. Sprague, whom she married June 16, 1947; as well as six children, Paul C. (Jacqueline) Sprague, Mark G. (Carol) Sprague, Anne M. (James) Johnson, Ruth E. (Vincent) Viscardi, James E. (Jody) Sprague and Jennifer L. (Richard) Liles; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Lou (Arthur) Wood.
The funeral service will be Saturday, Nov. 3, 2007, 11 a.m. at Midland Baptist Church, 5009 Jefferson Ave., Midland. Pastor Jim Payne and Pastor Thomas Sluys will officiate. A private family committal service will be at Elm Lawn Cemetery with her son-in-law James Johnson officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made to Midland Baptist Church, Child Evangelism Fellowship or Midland Hospice.
Friends may call at Penzien-Steele Funeral Home, 608 N. Madison Ave. (M-25), Bay City on Friday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. She will lie in state at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of service.

Dear Sprague Family,
I was in Thailand when Milly died. I am so sorry to here of her death. I got to know Milly when she was the School Nurse for 2 of our special ed students. Over the years I got to know her better and had much respect of her as a fellow nurse and most especially as a very caring Christian. When she was ready to leave Bay Arenac ISD she called me and encouraged me to apply for her position. I was very blessed to have followed in her footsteps as the next special education nurse at BAISD. I know heaven must be a very special place with Milly there. God bless you all!
PS I have forwarded her obituary to the Michigan Association of School Nurses as I know many would want to know of her death.

Some of the best memories of my entire life are spending time with you and Grandpa at the lake. Thank you for teaching me art, piano, nursing skills and taking me to church.
