Nicholas Horton Obituary

Nicholas James Horton, 20, died at his home on Friday, Nov. 17, 2006. Nick was born in Midland on July 4, 1986. As a boy, Nick played soccer, baseball and basketball and enjoyed watching sports of all kinds. He graduated from H.H. Dow High School in 2004 and had attended classes at Central Michigan University and Delta College. Nick loved fishing and deer hunting, both with bow and arrow and rifle. He enjoyed many summer camping trips with his grandparents at the Two-Hearted River in the Upper Peninsula. Nick was a kind, generous, caring person. He was a loyal friend and brother; a loving grandson; and most of all a wonderful son. Nick brought much joy to our lives. He was dearly loved by his family and will forever be missed. Nick lost his way the last several months. Hopefully, he is now at peace and happy.

Nick is survived by his parents, James and Jackie Horton of Midland; his brother, Joel Horton and Kari Wright and Sadee of Midland; his grandparents, Kenneth and Barbara Horton of Gladwin; his uncles and aunts, Bill and Donna Horton of Gladwin, Laverne and Kim Good of Gladwin and Greg and Jan Doan of Bay City; and his cousins, Ben Doan of Bay City, Amy Horton and Bob Horton of Gladwin, Eric Good of Lowell and Stacy Nesbitt of South Carolina. Nick was predeceased by his grandmother, Gladys Burch, who loved Nick with all her heart.

I've not seen Nick in many years, since he was just a kid playing with his brother. He will be missed, but always remembered. Our thoughts are with you all.

My heart goes out to you. I never got to meet Nick's family, but we got to know Nick well. During the short time that Nick and Chris (my son) were roommates. We will always remember him laughing at our house or at our wedding this last May. He had such an infectious smile. Please know that my families prayers and thoughts are with you and your family during this time. He is now at peace.

Words can't comfort you during this time. But take support from friends and family during these hard times. And know my heart hurts for you also.

My daughter wanted me to express that she is very sad that she wont play with Nick again. She wanted me to let you know that he is now in Heaven with the Angles to look after him. In the mist of the pain it still brought a little smile to my face when I saw the optimism in a small child, and she wanted me to szhre that smile with you. Nick will truely be missed by everyone.
