Penny Harris Obituary

Penny S. Harris, passed away in Virginia on November 28, 2025 at the age of 76 after battling dementia. Penny was born on March 6, 1949 in Midland, MI to the late W. Rex and Frances G. (Sperry) Harris.
Penny attended Midland High School and Michigan State University. After college, she moved to Washington DC and continued to live in DC and surrounding areas. She owned and operated her own software company for decades until her retirement in 2019. Beyond being an avid reader and gardener, Penny was always up to date on current issues and events which encouraged vigorous and enjoyable conversations.
Penny is survived by her children, all of Virginia: Daughter Morgan Felicity Hess and sons, Rob Hess (Brittany) and Blair Hess. Her granddaughter, Felicity Gonzalez (Lorenzo) and great grandson, Robbie Lorenzo. Her four sisters: Linda Atiemo-Obeng (Victor) of Midland, Valerie Brothers (John) of Saginaw, Ilona Harris of Grosse Pointe and Lisa Harris of Troy, MI. She is also survived by her nephews and nieces: James Smith (Becky) of Midland, Allison Brothers of Oscoda, Christopher Atiemo-Obeng of Philadelphia and Rachel Atiemo-Obeng of Los Angeles.
Per Penny's wishes, cremation has occurred and private memorial services will be conducted by her family.
