Timothy Key Obituary

Timothy Waite Key, 42, died on Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2005, in Houston, Texas, from injuries sustained in an accidental fall.

Timothy was born in Midland on Jan. 31, 1963. He graduated from Coleman High School in 1981, and later attended Mid Michigan Community College and Northwood University. He lived in Texas for 20 years, and his adopted drawl was greatly amusing to his northern family. He was a recent active member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Houston, serving as a Eucharistic minister and on the art and environment committee.

A talented painter and avid photographer, Timothy saw the world through the eyes of an artist. Some of his favorite things to photograph were neon lights and old signs. Some of his artwork was displayed in shows around the Houston area. He was also a gifted floral designer.

His empathetic nature made him an excellent volunteer for Special Olympics and other causes. He was also very close to his family. In spite of living out of state he made an effort to participate in important life milestones of other family members. Timothy was also a "cool" uncle to his nephew and nieces, remembering them on birthdays and with special cards and stickers. He also loved animals, especially his pet cats and dog.

Timothy always marched to his own drummer, speaking out on behalf of any cause he believed in. His sense of style, sense of humor, and thoughtfulness will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his mother, Patricia E. Key, of Coleman; his father, Larry A. Key, of Midland; as well as his grandmother, Dorothy M. Key, also of Midland. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Kathleen M. and Mikael Wipperfeld, and nieces Kirsten and Kara of Medfield, Mass.; and brother and sister-in-law, Drs. John A. and Jolene R. Key, and niece Caitlin and nephew Ryan of Cascade Township. Additionally, he is survived by his aunt and uncle, E. Carol and Jimmy D. Mayo, of Arizona; two cousins, Theresa M. and William P. Mayo; and aunt and Godmother, Diane K. Vanderpool, of Colorado.

Funeral arrangements are with Wilson-Miller Funeral Home in Midland. Visitation will be Sunday, Aug. 28, 2005, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral Mass will be said on Monday, Aug. 29, 2005, at 11 a.m. at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church in Coleman. Burial will be in Old Calvary Cemetery in Midland.

Gifts may be made in Timothy's name to the Coleman Area Library. Personal messages of support for the family may be offered at www.wilson-miller.com.
