Velma Skutt Obituary

Velma Lee "Babe" Skutt, 88, of Midland, went to heaven Monday afternoon, Aug. 29, 2016 at her home, surrounded by her family. She was born Aug. 22, 1928 in Homer Township, daughter of the late Samuel and Martha (Madison) Church. She married to her husband of 67 years, Royal Skutt, April 9, 1949. Mrs. Skutt enjoyed camping and being with her children and grandchildren. She was well known for her baked goods, canned tomatoes, apple sauce and especially her cinnamon rolls, and was a member of the Pioneer Tractor Club of West Branch.

Velma is survived by her husband, Royal; her son, Stephen Skutt and his wife, Jodie of Chesapeake, Va.; four grandchildren, Brian B. Linton, Beth Ross, Mindi Lou Linton, Gordon Skutt; and three great-grandchildren, Grace, Emma and Jackson. In addition to her parents, Velma was preceded in death by her children, Curtis and Gordon Skutt, Peggy (Skutt) Linton; her two brothers, Kenneth and Lyle Church; and one grandchild, Nathan Skutt.

Funeral services will take place at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 2, 2016 at the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Home, 1200 W. Wheeler St., Midland. Pastor Donald Duford will officiate with burial to follow in Midland Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Velma's family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 12 p.m. until the time of the services.
