Wilbur G. (Bud) Ullom
Wilbur G. (Bud) Ullom, peacefully joined his Jesus & Lord on Friday, October 14, 2022. There he reunites with his best friend, sweetheart and wife, Rose Ann (Wood) Ullom among many other family and friends. On March 6, 1935 Bud was born the son of Omer J. and Dora Mae (Graham) Ullom, brother to Robert Ullom, Janet Denton, Dick Ullom and Mary Ann (Don) Michalski.
Leaving a legacy was important to Bud and it is clearly demonstrated in the lives of his children, Cynthia (Craig) Grove, Catherine (Scott) Brubaker, David (Melissa) Ullom, Caryn (Mike) Fox, Marc (Brandi)Ullom; grandchildren Zac (Tiffany) Eagly, Breanne (Kim) Donald, Steffani (Ethan) Nowak, Travis (Karli) Brubaker, Shelby (Zachary) Bepler, Nathan Fox, Landon (Ally) Grove, Mariah (Justin) Heinlein, Zackary Bargy, Sarah Ullom, Madison Ice, Braden Ullom, Peyton McConkie, Aubrie Ullom, Mason Ullom as well as a great-grandfather to Ja'Maia and Kylee Donald, Layken and Maddux Eagly, Herman and Fletcher Heinlein, Ellery and Sylvie Nowak, and Miles Bepler.
Wilbur graduated from Coleman High School in 1953 and was enlisted in the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1958. Upon returning from the military, Bud went to work for The Dow Chemical Company where he worked for 40 years, retiring in 1995.
In 1960, Bud and wife Rose established Sandy Acres Farm and built a house where they raised their family and made Coleman their home. Over the years Bud became a pillar of the community and was often seen at the local restaurant with area farmers having coffee, supporting the small businesses, attending church and donating his time and resources wherever he could. He built a reputation of demonstrating dignity and respect, was known for being kindhearted, soft spoken and a man of his word. Bud was a regular at his children and grandchildren's extra curricular activities and was always their biggest fan. When you met Bud, you felt like you knew him forever and those of us who have will miss his smug grin and jokes that often followed.
Bud enjoyed hunting, farming, and traveling the world with Rose by his side.
A celebration of Bud's life will be held on Saturday, October 22nd at 1:00 p.m. with dinner to follow, hosted by the Coleman Wesleyan Church. Friends may call on the family from noon until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Coleman Schools Regional Agriscience Program, noting Bud Ullom in the memo. Donations may be mailed or dropped off at the Coleman Schools Board Office (4823 Coleman Schools Drive, Coleman, MI 48618). O'Laughlin Funeral Home, Inc. is assisting the family with the arrangements.
