Barbara Jean Zeman

1941 - 2025

Corcoran - Zeman, Barbara Jean passed away peacefully on November 1st at the age of 84 surrounded by her loving family. Barbara is survived by her husband, David, of 64 years of marriage along with her children, Nancy (Jeff) Beyer, Mark (Carrie) Zeman, John (Tracey) Zeman, Christopher (Lori) Zeman, Katie (Berik) Damberg, twenty grandchildren, and twelve great grandchildren. Preceded in death by parents, Alfred and Lilian Seykora, eight brothers and sisters, and son, Scot Zeman. She grew up in Owatonna, MN and married her high-school sweetheart, Dave. Their 64 year marriage was a source of pride for themselves and a model for other married couples striving toward a lifetime commitment of love. Barb was best known for her deep love and incredible acts of service to her large family, and to many others who needed her care including volunteering in the Stephen Ministry, Courage Center, Dinner at Your Door and church funerals. She took great care in knowing each of her grandchildren and great grandchildren well and spending a lot of time with them, especially on their birthdays and at their sporting events. She had a beautiful gift for hospitality. Whether it was entertaining for the family business, hosting huge family holidays, or taking all the grandkids on New Year's Eve so their parents could have a date night, she did it with grace and style. Her homemade stuffed pork chops, turkey dinners and Christmas fondue spreads were family favorites. Barb lived her Catholic faith by being the hands and feet of the Living Christ, nourishing people young and old, both those within her family and those out in the community. While raising her busy family, Barb traveled to the homebound, her friends from church and people in her community with food, and even brought along her heavy hair dryer, scissors and supplies to give them a good haircut and help them feel special. She had a deep love for children and adults with disabilities, especially for her son Scot, for whom she advocated fiercely to give him a healthy life of dignity and respect. The value she placed on him flowed into the lives of his peers at his schools, group home and day program. She taught her children the importance of unconditionally loving all kinds of people. Mass of Christian Burial 11:00 AM on Monday, November 10th, 2025, with visitation at 9:30 AM at Parish Community of St. Joseph, 8701 36th Ave. N., New Hope, MN 55427. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to 501(c)(3), Sharing & Caring Hands, 525 N 7th Street, Minneapolis MN 55405 and PRISM, 1220 Zane Ave N, Golden Valley, MN 55422.
