Owatonna - Dale Louis Bishman, age 91 of Owatonna, MN, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 14, 2025, at Lakeshore Rehabilitation Center in Waseca, MN.
Friends may greet the family from 4:00 to 6:00 PM Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at Brick Meger Funeral Home (1603 Austin Road, Owatonna) and one hour prior to the funeral at church. Funeral Service will be 11:00 AM Thursday, November 20, 2025, at St. John Lutheran Church (1301 Lincoln Ave. SE, Owatonna) with interment to follow at St. John Cemetery, Owatonna.
Dale was born April 18, 1934, at his home in Meriden Township to Benjamin G and Irma (Abbe) Bishman. He began his education at District 47 in Blooming Prairie Township and graduated from Roosevelt High School Richfield, MN, in 1952. Following his graduation, he first worked in commercial building construction, then went on to spend 35 years with Farmers Insurance Group, retiring in 1996.
Dale married Delores G. Johnson at Pontoppidan Lutheran Church in Ellendale, MN, on June 18,1954. From this union they had five children: Debbie, Darlene, Mike, Shelly and Patty.
Over the years, he acquired a diverse collection, including tractors, cars, tires, and many other items that he could find at a good price. He was deeply proud of his roots in Steele County and his love for America and expressed that pride for many years through a patriotic float in the Morristown parade. His passion for NASCAR dated back to 1959 and he spent many years as a season ticket holder at the Phoenix Arizona track and Chicagoland Speedway.
Survivors include his five children; Debra (Al) Koglin, Hutchinson MN, Darlene (Greg) Thomas, Pequot Lakes, MN, Michael (Barb) Bishman, Owatonna, Michele Ulrich, Owatonna and Patricia (Scott) Harris, Greenfield, MN; grandchildren; Adam (Anna) Koglin, Kevin (Hannah) Koglin, Shauna (Nathan) Magedanz, Marshall (Ashley) Thomas, Corey (Melissa) Bishman, Casey (Kasey Jo) Bishman, Cole (Lindsey) Bishman, Cody (Christine) Ulrich, Katie (Todd) Merritt, and Carly Ulrich; 21 great grandchildren; sisters, Lois Reynolds and Carol Glynn.
Dale was preceded in death by his wife, Delores; parents; sister, Betty Jeffries; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Esther and Guy Johnson; sisters-in-law, Eileen Sather and Adella Bennett; brothers-in-law, Vernon Johnson, Larry Reynolds and John Glynn.
Thank you to the staff at Ecumen Brooks, Lakeshore Rehabilitation Center and Moments Hospice for the care they provided to Dale. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to St. John Lutheran Church of Owatonna or donor's choice.
