ARLINGTON - David Norton, 83, of Arlington, died May 16, 2025, at the Southgate Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Metropolis. He was born on Aug. 6, 1941, in Waddy, to the late Ansel and Katherine Norton.
A revered community member, David committed 50 years as a master mason and was a member of Beulah Baptist Church. His career as a machinist spanned 44 years, a testament to his skilled craftsmanship and industrious nature.
David's passion for the outdoors shone brightly in his love for hunting and fishing. Restoring old tractors was not just a hobby but a reflection of his patience and attention to detail. Moreover, his generous heart found joy in helping others whenever the opportunity arose. Above all, David was a devoted family man. A loving husband, father, and grandfather, his warmth and guidance will be profoundly missed by all who were fortunate to know him.
David is survived by his wife of 18 years, Norma Norton; a son, Dustin (Corey) Norton, of Mt. Washington, Kentucky; one stepson, Vince (Cindy) Oakley, of Arlington; a stepdaughter, Janie Oakley, of Scottsdale, Arizona; two grandchildren, Simon Norton and Maggie Norton; and two step-grandchildren, Marredith (Daniel) Toups and Russ (Andrea) Bean.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, May 21, at Milner and Orr Funeral Home of Arlington with 1 p.m. Masonic Rites.
A Funeral Service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 21, at Milner and Orr Funeral Home of Arlington, with Ian Carrico officiating. Interment will be at Louisville Memorial Gardens in Louisville at noon Thursday, May 22.
