Deborah "Debbie" Darlene Hunt, 71, of Metropolis, passed away at 6:25 p.m. Friday, Dec. 12, 2025, at her residence, surrounded by her family and friends.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to noon on Friday, Dec. 19, followed by a Celebration of Debbie's life at the Aikins-Farmer-Loftus-McManus Funeral Home with her longtime friend Steve Heisner officiating.
Debbie taught at Shawnee Community College for several years, retired from Vienna Correctional Center after 20 years, then worked at Dippin Dots for 14 years. She played the organ at Fortress Steakhouse for many years, where she made many lifelong friends.
Debbie is survived by her beloved dog, Roscoe; uncle and aunt, Billy and Betty McDaniel; stepsister, Yvonne Strater (John); stepbrother, Ryan Fritch (Misty); special cousins, Robbin McDaniel, Zinda Baggett, Brian Baggett, and Jeff Meyer (Jan); special friends, Barbara Nix, Mary Carrell, Mary Ann Mittendorf, Debbie Loven, Diane Leonard, and Anna Jeffords; and numerous other cousins and extended family.
Debbie was preceded in death by her parents, Robert "Bob" Meyer and Betty Jo (McDaniel) Meyer Fritch; and her stepfather, Dale Fritch.
Memorials may be made in Debbie's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105; or Project Hope Humane Society, P.O. Box 125, Metropolis, IL 62960.

Deepest Sympathy for Billy McDaniel, family and close friends for the loss of Debbie. She was a friend of mine in high school and will be missed by all of us.
