Joyce Elliott Obituary
URBANA, Ill. - Joyce Ann Ross Elliott, 83, of Urbana, passed away Monday, Dec. 4, 2023, at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.
Joyce was born Jan. 13, 1940, in Ft. Henry, Tennessee, the daughter of Henry and Maude (Kennerley) Ross.
Joyce graduated from Lone Oak High School in 1958 and went on to attend Draughon's Business School in Paducah, Kentucky. She worked for various law offices in Paducah and Champaign until she went to work for the University of Illinois College of Law. She retired after 33 years in 1998 as director of career services. She came out of retirement to sell real estate in Champaign-Urbana for another five years.
She married Larry J. Elliott on Dec. 26, 1959, in Brookport. They lived in Tacoma, Washington, before settling into Urbana in 1962.
Joyce is survived by her husband, Larry of Urbana; children, Phillip (Sharon) of Savoy, Jill Harvey (Bob) of Gold Canyon, Arizona, and Julie Roberts (Rod) of Omaha, Nebraska; grandchildren, Tyler Roberts (Tori Riggs) Milliken, Colorado, Ben Roberts (Hannah) Naples, Florida, Andrew Roberts Omaha, Nebraska, Taylor Harvey (George Aguayo) Fredericksburg, Virginia, Ross Harvey (Sarah Teglasi) Granbury, Texas, Drake Elliott of Savoy, Brock Elliott of Savoy, and Annie Roberts of Knoxville, Tennessee/Omaha; great-grandsons, Luke and Jake Roberts of Naples, Florida; niece, Lisa Smith of Paducah; and nephew, Keith Sedille of Seattle, Washington.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Maude and Henry Ross; sisters, Margaret Sedille and Bette Lindsey; and infant brother.
She was a member of Philo Road Church of Christ (formerly known as Lincoln Avenue Church of Christ) in Urbana since 1962. She spent time as a volunteer for CASA. In her free time, she enjoyed golfing, traveling and spending time with her grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 15, at Pell Cemetery in Brookport.
