MASSAC COUNTY, Ill. - Margaret E. Mitchell, 99, of Massac County, passed away at 4:44 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 15, 2026 at Providence Pointe Healthcare.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2026, at Zion Evangelical Church with Pastor Jim Duncan officiating. Burial will follow at St. Stephen's Lutheran Church Cemetery.
Margaret was retired from Normandy Manufacturing, a member of Zion Evangelical Church, VFW, and American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.
Margaret is survived by her sister, Rosalie Miller; brother, Jack Mitchell and wife Peggy; nieces and nephews, Dawn Mitchell Followell (Mike), Cheryl Mitchell Cruse (Vince), Teresa Mitchell, Jodi Mitchell Scarboro (Duane), Larry Knapp, Clayton Knapp (Donna), Luke Mitchell (Lisa), John Mitchell, Marsha Niles (David), Linda Snedeker, Pamela Faughn (Michael), Matthew Mitchell, and Patricia Mitchell; several great nieces, great nephews, great great nieces, and great great nephews.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Mabel (Sielbeck) Mitchell; sisters, Louise Knapp and Helen Sherman; brothers, Howard Mitchell and Earl Mitchell; nephew, Randy Knapp.
Memorials may be made in Margaret's name to the Lourdes Foundation, 1530 Lone Oak Road, Paducah, Kentucky 42003.
Pallbearers were Mike Followell, Vince Cruse, Luke Mitchell, John Mitchell, Larry Sommer, and Jaxon Mitchell.
