EDDYVILLE - Maria Mae Matchen, 63, of Eddyville, passed away Tuesday, April 23, 2024.
She found her calling as a special education paraprofessional at Lyon County Elementary School for more than 20 years. She previously worked at Rivers Bend Retirement Home and Landmark formerly Hilltop Nursing Home.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Cressell George and Terrance Matchen, and parents, Hugh and Marva Elizabeth (George) Matchen.
Survivors include one daughter, LaQuiche Matchen of Eddyville; three brothers, Keith Matchen and wife Niki, Fredrick H. Matchen both of Eddyville, Andre Matchen and wife Petrina of Louisville; eight sisters, Janet Smith and husband Dwight of Princeton, Lesa George of Kuttawa, Tanya Gray and husband Harmon of Princeton, Karen Matchen of Eddyville, Fredda Matchen of Eddyville, Gina Robles of Louisville, Yvette Matchen-Toller and husband Eric of Louisville, Yolanda Matchen of Louisville; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, April 27, at Dunn's Funeral Home in Eddyville. Burial will follow in Crab Creek Cemetery. A wake will be held at from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Dunn's Funeral Home.
