Richard Irby Obituary

Richard A. "Rick" Irby, 75, passed away on May 15, 2024, at his home in Paducah.

Rick was born in Memphis, Tennessee, on Sept. 4, 1948. He grew up in Covington, Tennessee, then moved to Paducah in 1965 and graduated one year later from Lone Oak High School. Rick was a die-hard union supporter, an active member of IBEW Local 816, an NRA life member, and a JPEC retired lineman after 33 years of employment. He loved his family and enjoyed working on his farm, tinkering with and riding his Harley motorcycles, and hosting friends and neighbors in his garage workshop. He led a full life and will be missed and remembered.

Rick is survived by his wife of 53 years, Betsy; his son, John (Stacy) of Franklin, Tennessee, and sons, James and Andrew; his daughter, Jill (Matt) Dobson of Paducah and sons Sam and Ben; his sisters Judy Nokes and Valerie McFall (Charles) of Memphis, Tennessee; and other family and close friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruth Irby Weidner & Eddie James Irby; his stepfather, Everette Weidner; and his brother, Jim Irby.

There will be no services.
