Albert Seadler

1925 - 2023

Albert "Bud" Seadler passed away April 23, 2023 at 97 years old. 

He was born in Fresno, CA and served in the Navy from 1943 to 1945. During that time he met his future wife Helen in Hoquiam, WA. They were married in 1945, and moved their family of 6 to Watsonville in 1952, raising Kathleen, Richard, Mitchell and Judith. Bud worked as a butcher for Purity Grocery stores and Heights Market. He loved to take the family water skiing on San Antonio Lake, or to visit family in Washington - trips legendary for the all night drives and zero stops. He and Helen enjoyed square dancing and later motorhome trips, many times hauling their boat to fish at Eagle Lake. Bud loved many good dogs and always had an interest in horses, training his own in the early days. If there was a professional sports game, you could find Bud tuning in, probably with a cold beer and peanuts. Dessert would be vanilla ice cream, and nothing else. Don't ask. 

He grew a robust garden for many years, with vegetables and fruit trees. He once rebuilt the family home on Larkin Valley Road after a very rainy season caused the home to slide, and in later years built his own home on Riverside Drive with help from one of his sons.

Bud was quiet with a sparkle in his eye and was known to laugh until he cried, a trait he handed down to his children. He always had a good zinger when you least expected it, and couldn't help but tear up when he talked about departed loved ones. He is described as a true gentleman by friends. 

Helen preceded Bud in death in 2012. 

Bud is survived by his children, Kathie Sarracino, Richard Seadler, Mitch Seadler (Nanette) and Judie Nielsen (Chris); and grandchildren Erica King, Brendon Sarracino, Richie Seadler, Al Seadler, Mike Seadler, Brittany Laughton and several great-grandchildren. 

A graveside service will be held at Pajaro Valley Memorial Park Cemetery in Watsonville, May 8th at 11am. A reception will follow at Bay Village Clubhouse, 739 Bronte Ave.
