Carl Pimentel, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully on November 27, 2025, in
Watsonville, California, at the age of 91.
Born on May 3, 1934, in Oakland, California, Carl was the son of Estelle (née Viganego) and Carl "Corky" Pimentel. He grew up in Oakland as a devoted big brother to his sister Paula (née Pimentel) Hoxie, developing the values of family, faith, and hard work that would guide him throughout his life.
Carl graduated from St. Joseph's High School in 1952 and went on to earn his degree from the University of San Francisco in 1956. As a cheerleader at USF, his love for the Dons lasted long past his graduation, and he loved attending sporting events all around the Bay Area.
On June 23, 1956, Carl married the love of his life, Charlotte (née Timmons). Their marriage of over 50 years was filled with loyalty, partnership, and joy as they built their family and shared countless adventures together.
Shortly after marrying, Carl joined the United States Army, serving proudly as a Transportation Officer stationed in Germany from 1957 to 1959. His time in the service strengthened his sense of commitment, patriotism, and leadership.
Following his separation from the Army, Carl returned home and began working at the Fosters Freeze owned by his parents before starting a long and successful career in sales. He spent many years with Burroughs Corporation, beginning with selling adding machines and eventually advancing into the emerging world of early computers.
During these years, Carl and Charlotte lived in several California communities-including San Jose, Monterey, and San Leandro-before ultimately settling in Fremont, where they raised their growing family.
In 1984, Carl and Charlotte moved to Aptos, where Carl purchased a Safeguard franchise and continued his work in sales. They later made their home in Corralitos, California, becoming faithful and active members of Holy Eucharist Parish.
Carl lived a life rich with hobbies, friendships, and community service. A passionate golfer, he was an enthusiastic member of Rotary and took great pride in assembling family teams that often dominated the annual Rotary golf tournament.
He showed up. Carl supported his sons at swim meets, tennis matches, football games, CYO basketball, and many family milestones. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren knew him as a warm, steady presence who celebrated every achievement and loved with his whole heart.
Carl and Charlotte shared a deep love for travel, from road trips to visits with friends and extended family. He treasured time spent sailing, relaxing at the family cabins in Arnold and Ben Lomond, and enjoying ski trips.
Carl was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Charlotte, and his son, Gregory.
Carl is survived by his sons: Mark (Betsy), Paul (Jane), and Chris (Sandy); and his sister, Paula Hoxie (Phill).
His grandchildren: Jennifer Pimentel-Jahns (Isaac), Stephanie Holly (Jeremy), Brian Pimentel (Uri), Travis LeHouillier (Kristle), Kevan Pimentel, Marissa Pimentel, Zachary Pimentel, Ethan Pimentel, and Gavin Pimentel.
His great-grandchildren: Evalee and Haris Jahns, Hannah, Will, and Taylor Holly, Logan, and Jayse LeHouillier.
His nephews and nieces: Michelle Gross, Renee Philastre, Cynthia Bingham, Jeff Timmons, and Rhonda Timmons.
Carl will be remembered for his generosity, warmth, humor, steady guidance, and the unwavering love he showed to his family. He built a life defined by kindness, integrity, and devotion, and the legacy he leaves behind will continue through the many lives he touched.
He will be deeply missed by his family, his parish community, his friends, and especially his Monday morning prayer group.
A funeral Mass will be held for Carl on Friday, December 5, 2025 at 11 a.m. at Holy Eucharist Parish in Corralitos, CA with a reception to follow at the church.
