Rudolfo Ybarra Obituary
Rudolfo "Rudy" Ybarra, a resident of Royal Oaks, born in Texas on November 13, 1954, passed away peacefully after fighting a long battle of cancer on December 27th, 2022. He was 68 years old. He was a beloved son, brother, father, spouse, partner, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Born in Floyd, Texas, his family picked cotton, going from town to town weeks at a time. His older siblings would take care of him while his family was working in the fields. They left him under the big trucks for shade and constantly checked on him on the hot Texas days. The Ybarra family of 7 then migrated to Watsonville, California in May of 1960. He lived 7 to a garage, three boys in one bed, the girls slept on the couch, and his parents and sister slept in a bed. He attended Kindergarten at Linscott Elementary School, attended Pajaro Middle School, and graduated from Watsonville High School. He received a scholarship for college, but did not attend because he wanted to take care of his family and provide for them. He followed the Lettuce work as it moved, such as traveling to Huron California, El Central California, Blyth California, and Eloy Arizona. He worked for Bud Antle, Royal Packing Company, and Kelvin Hildebrand Trucking.
He then bought his first home in Las Lomas in 1983, and made his own renovations to create a beautiful home for his family. He was a homebody, he loved sitting in his truck, drinking his Budweiser, listening to The Beatles and having bonfires or barbeques, as well as being the biggest Raider fanatic. He was a giving person and he also loved helping people when they were in need, whether it was as simple as advice or a place to stay. He had the biggest heart, and was the strongest man you could ever meet. He had the biggest and most beautiful smile. He loved donating money to charities such as St. Jude's, Shriners, and Team Steph. He was strong mentally, physically, and emotionally. He fought cancer for nearly 5 years with 4 major surgeries, and still had a smile on his face for his family.
