Grandma... I keep hoping to call you and hear you say "Hi Hon". I want to thank you for all your love and friendship. I can't help but think of Eureka Canyon Rd. Vienna Sausages and Cheese at the breakfast stools. The joy of coming to see you and grandpa. The smell of the canyon and all your flowers and vegetation upon arrival, mixed with the creek. Waking up to grandpa's stock market radio. Coffee brewing and the news. Breakfast and then grandpa's watering the orchard and plants. Trips to town...Ralph's, Longs and Ford's, Gottschalks. You had a hard time finding shoes to fit you. Then we'd hit the amazing chili dog stand. Then off to Aunt Betty's. Aunt Noni would stop by in her green station wagon. We'd then go see Vickie and Tim, or perhaps go for a day at the Santa Cruz Beach and Boardwalk. Eat fried artichokes, fresh corn dogs and go on so many rides. End the day with Marinies Salt Water Taffy. You'd take Andy and me into town, I think it was off Green Valley Rd. to go see great grandpa and grandma. I can still remember the excitement in the elevator ride to see them.
Then my colds would come. I'd always get a horrible bronchial cold. You'd five me baths and rub me down with Vicks Vapor Rub and heating pads. I'd eventually spread my cold and you were so strong.....saying nothing. I would love to meet you at the tangerine tree, or at the berries. You took me to my first music concert at Moe's Alley, where the artists, on break....sat with us and talked with us.
We had so much fun. Then we went home and had olallie berry cobbler and laughed. I will never forget you out working me on the kiwi plants. Nor, will I ever forget you askingnme to tear down the berry plants and posts. That was hard.....but, nothing has been as hard as losing you grandma. It has been so hard! I have fears of losing Mom and Dad. My biggest fear is losing both, especially Mom. Mom is my best friend Grandma. As much as I dissapoint her, I love her. I cannot live without her. I Miss you so much Grandma. I know you are with family now. I hope Vada and Mollie are with you. Until we meet again Grandma. I sleep with your pillow and have you and Aunt Oleta's picture to wake up to.
