Beverly Jean "Bev" Laney-Ruggles

Beverly Jean "Bev" Laney-Ruggles, a beloved resident of Interlachen, gracefully departed from this life on Monday, June 17, 2024, at HCA Florida Putnam Hospital after a long and courageous battle with illness. ?Born in the town of Saginaw, Michigan, Bev's journey brought her to Putnam County many years ago. After residing in Palm Coast for 20 wonderful years, she returned to Putnam County six years ago to be closer to loved ones.
Bev's professional life was as diverse and dynamic as she was. She dedicated 10 years as a compassionate medical assistant to Dr. Stillword in Palatka, and her nurturing spirit shone through in her work in home health care. She also brought a friendly smile to her retail work as well as several business ventures. She was a cherished member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Interlachen, where she made many lasting friendships.
Bev's life was filled with simple pleasures and joyful pursuits. She adored fishing, cherished casino trips, relished dining out, and loved watching game shows, especially "Deal or No Deal." Above all, she treasured spending time with her family, friends and her two beloved dogs. She was also an avid supporter of multiple charities, including St. Jude's Hospital for Children, Ronald McDonald House and Tunnel To Towers Foundation.
Preceding her in death were her two sons, Michael Todd Laney and Mike Lee Laney; her daughter, Peggy Badour; and her parents, Melvin and Betty Jean Seder.
Left to cherish her memory is her devoted companion of 24 years, Joie Ruggles of Interlachen.
Bev's legacy lives on in her children, Chuck Laney of Standish, MI, Darcy Shaler of Pinconning, MI, Karen Bartholemew (Paul) of Dothan, AL, Rex Laney (Joan) of Interlachen, Joie R. Ruggles (Nellie) of Logan, OH, Sonya Stewart of Palm Coast, Steve Ruggles (Kim) of Palatka, Jody Mitchell (Major) of Winston-Salem, NC, Jennifer Crooms (Vernon) of Interlachen, Barbara Laney of Interlachen and Steven Laney of Midland, MI; her brother, Jerry Seder of Gordon, GA; her 30 adoring grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
A celebration of Beverly's beautiful life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at Johnson-Overturf Chapel in Interlachen, officiated by Pastor Gordon Carnes. Following the service, Bev will be laid to rest at Pineview Cemetery. The family will welcome friends from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
