Catherine D. Merritt

Catherine D. Merritt, 66, of Pomona Park, FL, was born September 1, 1959, in Palatka Florida, to the late Jack Simmons and Dorothy Deleston.
Catherine aka "Monk" was educated at Crescent City High School Class of 1978. She was employed as a Youth Worker at Hastings Youth Academy for over 20 years.
In "Monk's" spare time, she enjoyed cooking, shopping, taking trips to South Carolina and spending time her family.
Catherine had a radiant smile. Her passion and her unwavering spirit will forever be remembered. A pillar of strength and a beacon of love, her absence leaves a void in our hearts. 
On Friday morning, November 14, Catherine peacefully answered her heavenly call at Bailey Community Hospice Center in St. Augustine surrounded by her loving family. 
Preceding her in death: Jack Simmons Jr., Dorothy Deleston, Willie Merritt, Jack Simmons, Ronnie Simmons and John Henry Deleston.
Cherishing his memories forever: children, James (Cherise) Scott III, Jason (Myrna) Scott  Eric (Angela) Hawkins, Harlem Turner ; grandchildren, Malayna West, James Scott IV, Jason Scott Jr., Malia Scott, Jamia Hardy, Jaela (Jamaad) Batts; brother, Terry Simmons (Doretha Seal); sisters, Patricia, Sheila (Perry) Richardson, Wendy (Junior) Butler, Hildagarde Simmons, Felecia (Jason) Holmes; special friends, Belinda Jackson, Chloris Baker, Larnell Boykins, Pamela Roberts, Melissa Robinson, Harriet Jorda; stepson, Willie Scott, and Robert Scott.
