Helen Brown Obituary
Helen F. Brown, 96, of East Palatka was born September 30, 1926, in Palatka Florida. She was the daughter of the late Mabel Hills and Mack Footman. Helen was educated in the Putnam County School System.
Helen was member of Mt. Olive A.M.E Church where she served in the choir, food service and class leader until her health began to fail. Helen enjoyed visiting the sick and shut in, cooking food and baking cakes to share with everyone. She would fix plates to take to the people on the streets on Christmas and she would even buy presents to take to the homeless. She had a heart of gold.
Helen also loved to fish and entertain in her younger years. Her favorite TV shows were the Rev. Jimmy Swaggart and the Rev. Charles Stanley. Her employment included from farm laborer and retiring after 27 years of service at GP Operations in Palatka. After retirement, Helen worked several years as a housekeeper for the late attorney Ronald (Ronnie) Clark.
Helen F. Brown entered in the sunset of life on Monday, January 16, 2023, at Bailey Community Hospice Center in St. Augustine, Fla.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in eternal rest by her husband, Robert Brown II; daughter, Gardenia King; sons, Robert Brown III, Anthony Brown; sisters, Bernice Kelly, Juanita Hills, Lizetta Footman, Valdosta Ga.; brothers, Eddie Hills, Jettie Hills Jr. and Lucius Footman, Vald, Jackie Akins, Palatka Fla; and 14 grandchildren, Javon Akins, Anthony Akins, Felecia Cesar, Kimetta Robinson, Kim Williams, Trevor Brown, Yolanda Brown Harris, Antonia Brown, Marcus Brown, Kuthescha Brown, Terri (Bubbles) Alexander, Tiffany Brown, Tori King, La'Darryl Nobles; 22 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; daughter in love, Eva Brown; sisters in law, Evelyn Hills, Catherine Hills, East Palatka, Fla; aunts, Marion Mcgriff, Dorris Mosley, Palatka, FL, Margrett Holder, Hersel Thomas, Miami, FL; 4 God children; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
Viewing and visitation was 4-6 p.m. Jan 27, at Mount Olive African Methodist Episcopal Church, 115 Pine Street, East Palatka, FL 32131.
