Josephine Stewart "Jo" Johntry

Josephine Stewart "Jo" Johntry, 79, of Hawthorne, passed away on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at Haven Hospice Roberts Care Center in Palatka.
A native of Jolo, West Virginia, Jo moved to Palatka with her family in 1958. She attended Palatka High School and as a teenager she worked as a car hop at Jerry's Drive In (originally Martin's) where she was known as "Little Jo." Jo became a CNA and worked at Putnam Community Medical Center for over 20 years. She was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Johntry Sr.; her parents, Thomas and Lizzie Bell Stewart; her twin brothers, Erstel and Estel Stewart, brother, Tommy Stewart; and a niece, Jessica Lynn Stewart.
Jo is survived by her son, Harry "JR" Johntry Jr. of Johnson; grandchildren, Eric Johntry of Johnson, Tara Ivie of Johnson, and Daniel Cooper; a sister, Betty Summy (Carl) of Clyde, NC; a sister-in-law, Jackie Johntry Hertlein of Keuka; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Howard "Buddy" and Paula Johntry of Orange Springs; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday March 28, 2024, at Johnson Cemetery in Johnson, FL, with Pastor Larry Litzell officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday March 27, 2024, at the Johnson-Overturf Interlachen Chapel.
