Lee Merrill Bright

Lee Merrill Bright, 62, originally of Palatka, FL, passed away Saturday, October 7, 2023, at his Johnson City, Tennessee home. His loving wife of 10 years, Mary, was at his side as he left this earth. ?Lee was born in Palatka, Florida. He joined the Army in 1979 and was stationed at Ft. Bragg, NC within the 82nd Airborne Division as a paratrooper. In addition to his military service to our country, during Lee's lifetime he was also a musician, firefighter, deputy sheriff and restaurant owner, as well as a communications contractor for the U.S. Government.
Lee was preceded in death by his father, Stanley R. Bright; and mother, Reathy Mabel Bright-Breteler.
Lee is survived by his wife of 10 years, Mary Bright; three daughters, Olivia Mackling, Rachel Rutan and Jamie Bright; one son, Payden Bright; and two bonus daughters, Tiffany Powell, and Jennie Armstrong. Lee had 8 grandchildren: Draven, Christian, Kai, Luca, Lucy, Dakota, Mason and Savannah. He is also survived by his brother, Randy Bright, and sister, Linda Bright.?Lee had an adventurous thirst for life and stated that he was leaving this world completely happy with the amazing journey he led. He adored his children, grandchildren, wife and family and meant everything to him. He will be greatly missed, but those who were fortunate enough to have known Lee will never forget his always-positive outlook on life and his loving, hard-working nature.
His family will be honoring him in a private ceremony at home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in his name to the 82nd Airborne Division Association Educational Fund.
