Family-Placed Obituary

ALVIN R. JURGENSEN "Doug" January 31, 1934 - May 2, 2012 Doug Jurgensen passed away at the VA Hospital in West Palm Beach, FL from complications of emphysema and COPD. Born in Los Angeles, CA to the late Henry and Helen Jurgensen. He grew up in the Palm Springs, CA area graduated from Palm Springs High School and served in the US Air Force during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in 1956 as an Airman Second Class. In August of 1961 he married Shirley Leonard in Winter Haven, CA. They had two children, a daughter, Starlene and son, Douglas Robert. He worked as a ceramic tile setter and in 1967 he and Shirley divorced. He then moved to Florida where he worked on a commercial fishing boat for a time. He then built high end-pleasure boats. After selling the business he worked on a golf course to stay busy. His second wife, Sharon preceded him in death. They had no children. He is survived by daughter, Starlene Clig and husband, Mike and their 12 children and by son, Doug and wife, Sheri and their three children and six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his ex-wife, Shirley Rivera and her nine children. The family wishes to extend their most sincere appreciation to Pastor Neil Parker, Doug's life-long friend and Jesse Rivera for their bedside vigil for Doug's last days.
